Update on John Symonds and his treatments

Update on John:

Hello everyone

Sorry for the delay in posting, however my family and I have been overwhelmed by my recent diagnosis and your overwhelming support. My family and I would like to sincerely thank you all for the donations you have made to us. This is a show of significant support to us and we are deeply touched by everyone’s kindness.

To all our friends, although it is difficult to think and talk about, I want to share with you all an update on my health so you know what my family and I have been facing. I have been diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous brain tumor for which surgery is not an option. I have begun 6 weeks of radiation treatments along with chemotherapy and other medication, and I am amid these treatments now. After the six weeks, we will be meeting with the doctors to discuss the impact of the treatments provided and will get a better idea of what, if any, treatment options will follow at that time to give me the longest survival time - post treatment. This time can vary based on several things, but I will keep working to get the most time with my family as is possible.

So once again, we cannot begin to know the best way to thank you all for your overwhelming kindness. We want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Kim Matheson who led by creating this donation page with help from Cara Wittich as well. It is incredible to us that within a few weeks there have been 107 donations directly on the site and a number of friends and family who have sent us cards with direct donations to assist us. The Sackville Minor Basketball Association has also made a significant donation to the page unexpectedly so we want to thank SMBA and EACH and EVERY individual and family who donated to us, this will help us out more than anyone will ever know. We have no words to fully express our and gratitude with all the help this will provide for my family through this and moving forward.
