My nephew, Joey, was diagnosed this week with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Joey and his family are navigating a scary new reality and taking things one day at a time. Since they live in Texas, far from most family and friends, we wanted to create an avenue for friends and family to show support from a distance.

Together, we can help ease the financial burden the Workman's will face so they can pour all of their energy into helping Joey beat cancer!

Joey's Progress So Far:

During the week of April 11, Warner and Rachel (Thiebaut) Workman took their Son Joey (2 1/2) to visit the pediatrician after noticing he hadn't been acting like himself. The Pediatrician quickly referred them to the Texas Children’s hospital down the road after a blood test showed his Hemoglobin level was severely low.

They went to the Emergency Room at the Woodlands branch of Texas Children’s, where they received the news no parent wants to hear.

"Joey has Leukemia."

Joey was transported via ambulance to the main Texas Children’s campus in downtown Houston where he was admitted to the pediatric ICU.

After several scary days in the PICU, 7-8 blood transfusions, and many tests, Joey has been transferred to the Oncology Unit. The Workman's will continue to figure out the next steps as they navigate this new reality.

PS: Another burden the family will face is that most of their support system lives across the country. Anything given will be used directly to allow the Workman's to have support around them as often as possible.
