Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted community,
We're reaching out with love and urgency to support our dear friends—Joely and Chad Valentine—who have been navigating a whirlwind of medical emergencies and life-altering challenges over the past several months.
What started as a simple trip to the ER in early April for a suspected UTI quickly turned into a medical crisis. On April 11th, doctors discovered a serious issue during a scan, and Joely was admitted for an emergency hysterectomy. From that point on, things moved rapidly and unexpectedly.
Joely developed a clot in her stomach, delaying further procedures. She was placed on blood thinners while the team waited for the clot to shrink. On April 20th, she finally underwent the planned surgery—but just as she was preparing to be discharged, she suffered a stroke. Doctors had to act fast, performing emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from her brain. Joely was placed in the ICU, beginning a long and difficult recovery journey.
Since then, Joely’s strength and resilience have been nothing short of incredible. She has:
Undergone multiple hospital transfers for monitoring and treatment
Started chemotherapy in early May
Spent time in a rehabilitation facility for recovery
Had a loop device implanted to monitor heart activity. After going home, it was discovered her heart had paused for 5 seconds, leading to the implantation of a pacemaker.
Most recently, received a blood transfusion to address anemia
Joely is now back at home, regaining strength. Next up is another round of chemotherapy and continued physical therapy through home health care.
Why We’re Asking for Help
This journey has taken a massive toll—not only physically and emotionally—but financially as well. We’re asking for your support to help cover:
Medical expenses and hospital bills not covered by insurance
Home Health Care and Physical Therapy
Daily living costs while being out of work
How You Can Support
If you’re able to donate, every single contribution—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference. And if you’re not in a place to give financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your community. Words of encouragement, love, and care are deeply appreciated too.
Chad and Joely have always shown up for their friends and family with warmth, humor, and generosity. Now it's our turn to surround them with that same love as they face this ongoing challenge.
Thank you for standing with them during this time.
With deep gratitude,
on behalf of all who love Chad and Joely
