Support for Joe at the Enchanted Cafe
Donation protected
In March of 2013, Joe Moscato opened the Enchanted Cafe. It was his lifelong dream to open a cafe, and he could have opened anywhere, but chose Red Hook to give Bard students a home away from home. Joe kept the cafe open after hours when students missed the shuttle, or just wanted to stay and study a little longer. He opened late just to drive students to campus when the shuttle stopped running and left them stranded. He never denied anyone food or drink if they didn't have enough means to pay for it. He offered advice, friendship, and refuge for any and every person who walked in through those doors. From the bottom of my heart I have never met someone more selfless than Joe. In the two years I've worked at the cafe, he has offered me more advice and support than anyone. Everyone deserves a Joe in their life. He is truly the cornerstone of this community.
This week has been tough for everyone, and Joe is not excluded from that. Due to the new food mandates in New York State, Joe had to make the unimaginably tough decision to close the Cafe. Since it is his only source of income, he needs your help. Every dollar counts. Please consider donating if you can!
