In Loving Memory of Atticus Orion Nissen-Rojas

On December 22, 2025, our family said goodbye to Atticus Orion Nissen-Rojas, who was born stillborn after a long and courageous journey. Though his life was brief, Atticus was deeply loved and will forever be part of our family.

Atticus is the beloved son of Joseph Nissen-Rojas and Gloria Nissen-Rojas, and a cherished little brother to Angel and Alex, who were so excited to welcome him.

In November, just before his baby shower was planned to take place, Joe and Gloria received the heartbreaking news that Atticus had Trisomy 18, a condition incompatible with life. Gloria carried Atticus with incredible strength and love, and after four days of induced labor, gave birth to him stillborn on December 22, 2025. Joe, Gloria, Angel, and Alex were able to hold him, love him, and say goodbye in peace.

As they grieve this profound loss, the family is also facing significant medical and related expenses. At the time of Atticus’s delivery, Gloria was completing clinical rotations for her PhD program in Bakersfield, CA, and had not yet been able to obtain health insurance. Although she is now covered under Joe’s plan, many of the medical costs associated with Atticus’s delivery and Gloria's recovery are not fully covered.

This fundraiser is intended to help relieve some of that financial burden so Joe and Gloria can focus on healing, grieving, and honoring their sweet boy without the added stress of mounting expenses.
