Support for Jodz Barrat

Hi, my name is Jess and I am Jodie's older sister.

On Sunday afternoon 16/2, Jodie was involved in an accident which seen her fall from a considerable height. Jodie was unable to move or get up.

She was taken by ambulance to Wagga Base Hospital where she spent the night under close care and undergoing tests. Specialists were called in to assess, scans and MRI's completed.

Monday 17/2 Jodie was given the news that she had 3x broken vertebrae, a broken rib, a fractured wrist and a dislocated finger. Monday evening saw more specialists arrive to assess Jodie and she was airlifted to St. George Hospital Sydney at 8pm for further scans and testing.

Once in Sydney, it was confirmed that one of Jodie's vertebra breaks is of serious nature and may affect her spinal cord with any movement. This seen her placed in Acute Ward, in a back brace, where she will remain under close monitoring with no movement until scheduled surgery Monday 24/2.

My/Jodie's Mum Carmel has flown up to Sydney to be by her side. Mum can't stay at the hospital and has to seek accomodation close by.

I am reaching out to all of Jodie's friends, family, work colleagues and those of the alike, in hopes of trying to ease the financial pressure she and my Mum will face over the coming months.

Jodie is always the first person to lend a hand, offer support, have a laugh and share a beer in times of need. I am asking for a return favour in helping her.

Jodie will remain in hospital between Sydney and Wagga for many weeks to come and confined to a back brace after surgery for 3 months or more. This will affect her ability to work and keep a roof over head (mortgage).

Funds raised will help Jodie with her mortgage, general household bills, specialist appointments, accomodation cost and travel for Mum to be along side her while she is in Sydney and Wagga under close care from our amazing hospitals.
