Two weeks ago after travelling to America to play in the USHA National Collegiate Handball Championships, Jodie, a renowned handballer at the tender age of 20, became suddenly and seriously ill. What was meant to be a trip of a lifetime, enjoying her sport and seeing the world, quickly turned into a medical emergency far from home. Jodie suffered a series of strokes within hours, which has left her with complications affecting her sight, speech and right side of her body. Anyone who knows Jodie knows she is a determined young lady that doesn't back down without a fight. Doctors are hopeful she will improve, given her young age, but theres a long road ahead to get there. She is currently being treated at Christian Hospital, St.Louis, Missouri.
Her family were contacted immediately to make their way Stateside to be by her side, facing unexpected medical bills, emergency travel costs, accommodation expenses, and now the significant cost of bringing her safely back to Ireland when she gets the all clear to continue her recovery at home.
We are asking for help to cover:
●Medical expenses not covered by insurance
●Emergency flights for family
●Accommodation costs during her hospital stay
●Medical transport and flights to bring her home
●Ongoing recovery expenses when she returns home
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean so much to Jodie and her family.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
Keep fighting like you always do on the court Jodie, we are all behind you
