My mom, Joanna, is the kind of woman who never asks for anything for herself. She has always been the one who gives her time, her love, her strength especially to me and my four siblings. No matter what she was going through, she always made sure we were okay first. Recently, our world changed in a way we never imagined. Joanna was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer a few years ago and beat it only to be diagnosed a few months ago with liver cancer. Hearing those words felt like the ground disappeared beneath our feet. Watching someone you love be in so much pain is something you can never fully prepare for. As her children, it breaks our hearts to see her hurting and not be able to take it away. She tries to stay strong for us even now but this battle is a hard one. Four years ago, we lost our grandmother. That loss changed our family forever. Now, facing this diagnosis feels like reopening a wound that never fully healed. The fear, the sadness, the uncertainty it all feels so familiar and overwhelming. Through it all, my mom is still her. Still loving. Still thinking about us. Still worrying about everyone else before herself. With ongoing treatments, doctor visits, medications, and the physical toll this illness brings, the financial burden is growing quickly also with most recently being laid off from a company she gave 8yrs to and it being a mandatory layoff of not just her but over 100 employees we now could use your help and support and prayers to keep us afloat my mother is already looking to see what her next move is and making sure we don’t miss a beat.
