Support for JJ Okash and Family

Hi we are friends of the Okash family hoping to raise support for JJ, Donna and Bob through JJ's treatment for brain tumor and surgery.

On October 10th, 2023 JJ experienced a seizure while at work. He was taken by ambulance to Greenwich Village Pavilion ER where a CT scan revealed a large mass in temporal-parietal-insular lobes of his brain. He was transferred to Lenox Hill Hospital of NYC. A 36-hour EEG concluded no epilepsy. Extensive diagnostics were completed over the next 36 hours. The team of specialist concluded that surgery was necessary. On October 18th, JJ checked into the hospital for pre-surgery testing and studies.

Donna and Bob flew to NYC to be with JJ for surgery and recovery. During a 9 hour procedure approximately 80% of the tumor was removed (size of grade A large egg). The remaining 20% of the mass is attached to 3 sections of the brain, requiring 14 months of chemotherapy with concurrent radiation for the first 7 weeks.

Along with a setback and another hospital stay with JJ on a ventilator, weekly trips for medical visits, including continued MRIs, lab work, and therapies have made for a taxing schedule, emotionally and physically.

Donna remains in NYC while Bob has returned to Superior to hold down the home front with Dominick. As you can imagine, along with mounting medical expenses, the cost of staying in NYC, transportation to and from the hospital daily and other necessities are adding up. JJ has not been able to work, and no time line has been given for returning to his place of employment.
