Our son Jireh was born on June 9, 2025, and since that day, we have never left the hospital. For ten months, our family has lived in a world of uncertainty and hope, as Jireh was born with VSD, ASD, and MAPCA—serious heart conditions that required surgery. Unfortunately, he had to wait four months for the surgery, and the delay caused additional complications. Despite the blessings and progress, we reached a crossroads where the hospital told us we had to choose between a tracheostomy or signing a DNR for extubation. We chose the tracheostomy, but during the surgery on March 30th, Jireh went into cardiac arrest for 21 minutes due to a medical error. Now, doctors say he has a significant brain injury.
We are doing everything we can to get Jireh transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he can receive the specialized care he needs. As his father, I will travel and stay with him, while my wife takes care of our other children at home. During this time, I will be unable to work, which adds to the financial strain. This journey has been incredibly difficult for our family, and just when we thought we were nearing the end, everything changed. The financial burden of travel, lodging, meals, lost income, and time away from work is quickly adding up, and we are focused on staying strong for Jireh.
We are asking for support to help us be by our son’s side every step of the way. Boston will provide the level of care he needs, and we are believing for healing, strength, and recovery. Any donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward travel expenses to and from Boston, lodging during his treatment, food and daily necessities, medical-related costs not covered by insurance, and lost income while I am unable to work. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers. Please keep our son in your thoughts as he continues to fight. Thank you for standing with our family during this time.
