We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the unexpected loss of our beloved brother, Jim Burnes. He was truly one of the good ones—our protector, our hero, and the person we could always count on, no matter what. Jim leaves behind his wife, Karlie, and their three beautiful children: James Burnes, William Sawyer Burnes, and Everlee Burnes. He was their rock and the sole breadwinner for his family. His absence is devastating beyond words, and the loss they now face is truly unimaginable.

Jim was the middle sibling of eleven children and one of the strongest men we have ever known, both physically and emotionally. He was the quiet, steady, and reasonable presence in the room, the kind of strength that didn’t need to be loud to be felt. Jim was a hardworking and deeply valued employee at J & D Construction, a subcontractor for PG&E. His boss and good friend, Jim Hudson once told him he was one of the best people he had ever known. That was our brother Jim—loved by so many and respected by all who knew him.

We are asking for donations to help with funeral expenses. Any remaining funds will be placed into trusts for his children—James, Sawyer, and Everlee—to help give them a strong start when they are older. Everlee is 10 years old and has special needs, requiring 24/7 care to assist with daily living and life skills. Jim’s passing has been a shock to everyone. Hearing grown men cry as they learned the news spoke volumes about the love and respect they had for Jim. We deeply appreciate any donations, kind words, and prayers for his family during this incredibly difficult time. Jim will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. We know he will be watching over us in heaven with his best friend and our oldest brother, William Burnes, who passed several years ago. Rest in peace, Jim.
