Thanksgiving morning started beautifully—sunlight pouring through the windows as Charity and Jewel got ready to visit their dad’s side of the family for the big holiday feast. They laughed, bundled up, and headed out the door.
“Goodbye, girls. Drive safe! I love you.”
The drive along I-80 was calm and quiet. Charity glanced down at her map for just a moment… and everything changed.
The truck veered off the left shoulder.
It rolled—once, twice… more than five times—before coming to rest in the grassy median.
A nurse who stopped at the scene later told us,
“I am so glad Charity is okay. My heart breaks for her—she never stopped holding her sister and begging us to help her first.”
Then came the call no person should ever receive.
“Jewel did not survive the accident.”
Hot tears streamed down the faces of family and friends as the news spread. Hearts shattered. A world that once felt bright suddenly felt dim.
Jewel was a ray of sunshine—always helping, always smiling, always bringing warmth into any room she walked into. Her kindness touched everyone she met.
Now our family is facing the unthinkable: planning a funeral for a beloved daughter, supporting a grieving sister, and trying to navigate overwhelming emotional and financial burdens.
If you feel moved to help, please consider donating.
Any amount, no matter how small, is a blessing during this devastating time.
Thank you for helping us honor Jewel and support our family through this heartbreak.
Jewel’s parents, Tracie Smith and Larry Hunsaker Jr., are now facing the unimaginable task of saying goodbye to their precious daughter. As they navigate this heartbreaking time, they are in need of help to cover the funeral and burial expenses. The financial burden of these costs is significant, and any support you can offer will help ease their worries so they can focus on honoring Jewel’s memory and supporting each other.
We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference for Tracie, Larry, and everyone who loved Jewel. Thank you for standing with them in this time of sorrow and for helping to celebrate the beautiful life of Jewel Hunsaker.
