Donation protected
On December 5, 2022, Jessie landed in the ER after having a tonic clonic seizure in the middle of the night. It came as a complete shock to everyone that Jessie had a mass in her brain, which we later learned to be brain cancer.
On December 15, 2022, a neurosurgeon was able to do a partial resection of the tumor that pathology confirmed is an astrocytoma WHO Grade 2, about the size of a ping pong ball.
After many neuro- and radiation oncology consultations, Jessie decided to pursue treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. She is undergoing her first treatment now: proton beam radiation, which she hopes will cause fewer short and long term impacts to the delicate structures near her tumor. Then, after she completes radiation, Jessie will start 12 months of oral chemotherapy treatment (temozolomide).
She deeply thanks all her friends and family who are supporting and sustaining her on this difficult road. Cancer is very expensive; every $10, $5, or $2 adds up to a very big impact.
Whether you choose to donate or not: Jessie loves to laugh and smile, and she wants everyone to know that she thoroughly enjoys each and every card, call, text, silly animal video, weird meme, message, email, and kindness that is sent her way.
If you’d like to follow her on her journey, find her on Instagram @jesservolino.
