Support for Jessica & Vince During Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julie, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Jessica and her husband Vince, who are in the fight of their lives.
Vince was first diagnosed with Stage III colorectal cancer in 2020. He underwent intensive treatment including radiation, chemotherapy, and three surgeries, and was declared cancer-free in 2021. Sadly, in 2022, he was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic cancer to the lungs. Over the next two years, he endured more chemotherapy and radiation, as well as the removal of his lower left lung.
Despite this, the cancer continued to grow and spread. In early 2023, doctors at Chapel Hill Cancer Hospital told Vince and Jessica that there was nothing more they could do. Vince’s cancer—colorectal cancer with metastasis to the organs—carries only a 13% survival rate. It has since spread to two ribs, dropping his odds to just 8%.
In a final effort to seek hope and healing, Vince was referred to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. After a long year of traveling back and forth from North Carolina to Texas for evaluations and testing, he was finally accepted into a clinical trial this past March. Vince and Jessica temporarily relocated to Texas for two months to begin treatment, and he is now in Cycle 4 of that trial.
While he is now able to be home between treatments, the protocol requires in-person infusions at MD Anderson every 21 days—which means they will make 17 trips to Texas between June 2025 and June 2026. Each trip involves flights, lodging, meals, and transportation, averaging $1,500 per visit—all while they continue to juggle work and daily life under the weight of this ongoing battle.
This is where we can step in.
Every donation—no matter the size—goes directly toward helping cover travel expenses, housing, and meals, so that Jessica and Vince can focus on what truly matters: Vince’s healing and precious time together.
If you feel led to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Even if you’re not able to donate right now, sharing this page or lifting them up in prayer means the world to them and to all of us who love them.
You can donate here on GoFundMe, or—if you'd prefer to avoid processing fees—directly via Venmo: @Jessica-Emory-79.
To keep you informed and confident in how your contributions are helping, here is a breakdown of how the funds are being used:
Flights – Vince and Jessica are making 17 round-trip flights from North Carolina to Houston between June 2025 and June 2026. Each flight costs approximately $500–$700 per person, totaling over $15,000.
Lodging – With each trip requiring 2–4 nights in Houston for infusions, testing, and follow-up care, Airbnb and hotel stays average $150–$200/night, totaling approximately $6,000–$8,000 over the year.
Ground Transportation – Rental cars, rideshares, and parking during each visit average around $100 per trip, totaling $1,700.
Meals & Daily Expenses – Basic meals during travel and medical stays add up to approximately $75–$100 per trip, or about $1,500–$1,700 across the year.
Unforeseen Medical Expenses & Supplies – While the clinical trial covers some treatment costs, additional labs, out-of-pocket medications, and supplies continue to arise. We estimate $3,000–$5,000 for these needs.
From our family to yours, thank you for standing with them during this incredibly difficult time.
