Support for Jessica Tink’s Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Earlier in 2025, Jessica was diagnosed with an issue in her brain where excess spinal/cerebral fluid builds up causing extensive pressure. On 24 April 2025, Jessica underwent a surgical procedure to insert a stent into a section of the sinus vein at the back of her brain. This was to restore the veins function and ability to absorb and regulate the excess fluid build up.  That procedure went well, but soon after when in recovery, for unknown reasons, a serious bleed started in the lining of her brain on the right side. Jessica was rushed back in for emergency surgery where a section of the right side of her skull was removed. After several hours in surgery, Jessica’s partner of the past 11 years, Jason, was spoken to by the surgical team. The complications were explained and he was told the injury was not expected to be survivable. Jessica was in a medically induced coma and listed in a critical condition. Over the following 24 hours, all the family including Jessica and Jason’s children, Alex, Xavier and Isabella were by her side. Jason had the gut wrenching moments of trying to explain the situation to the kids. Her condition remained critical for over a week.

After 5 days, ICU doctors began a slow process of bringing Jessica out of the coma. Many more issues arose with each positive quickly followed by more set backs. Her partner and parents, Rob and Colette, remained by her side. Everyday, 12 -15 hours a day with Jessica.

At this time, Jessica has been in ICU for a period of 9 weeks. There is weakness down the left side of her body comparable to a person who has suffered a severe stoke. Family members have been looking after their kids, and her partner Jason has remained at her side every single day. Jessica will hopefully soon be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital for extensive rehab. The initial stages are expected to be long and hard, at least several months, which will be followed by a long period of continued rehabilitation.

This has been a traumatic and life changing experience for Jessica, Jason, their family along with their extended families.

As you can imagine, this has placed an enormous amount of emotional and financial stress on Jessica and Jason. Being away from home while Jessica undergoes treatment has meant time off work, travel expenses, and accommodation costs — all adding up quickly with a long road ahead.

If you are in a position to help, I kindly ask for your support through a donation. Your generosity will help ease these financial burdens and allow Jessica, Jason, and their family to focus entirely on her healing and recovery.
