Support for Jessica from La Puerta

Donation protected
I'm Allison and I'm a customer and friend of La Puerta.

If you have ever had the pleasure of visiting La Puerta on Killingsworth in N PDX, you've been greeted with warmth by Jessica and Aníbal and served amazing pupusas made from scratch with love and care. Jessica and Aníbal are partners in their Salvadorian food cart, but more importantly they are partners in life. They knew each other in childhood and reconnected 5 years ago, blending their families and dreaming up a food business highlighting their native cuisine.

In a sad turn of events, Aníbal was admitted to the ICU over a month ago due to severe illness. It is unclear whether he is going to make it. Jessica is trying to hold it together for her two young daughters, continuing to run the food cart on her own and dealing with other challenges as well. The cart needs to find a new home and she recently got her car towed, to name a few.

When my son broke his collarbone a couple months back, Jessica made him a special pupusa in the shape of a heart and gave him and extra batch of her incredible platanos fritos. I know this is the kind of care that Jessica brings to each connection she makes and I hope that we can return that kindness to her in her time of need!
