Hi, my name is Martha. The family includes our wonderful 6-year-old daughter, Vivian, and my spouse of 15 years, Jesse.

About 2 months ago, Jesse unexpectedly lost his job. My current job has had multiple layoffs these past 3 months, so I have also been in fear of losing mine. We have been job searching to no avail on both parts. He is receiving EDD, but with other everyday bills, it's not able to meet the need for rent and other everyday needs.

On Sunday evening, 6/28/2026, Jesse got into a car accident and totaled his car. Thankfully, the other people in the other vehicles were fine with no injuries. Unfortunately, Jesse was the only one to go to the hospital, and without going into too many details, he broke both legs and will not be able to walk on his own for months, nor will he be able to come home and recover as we live in an upstairs apartment.

He said he will try for disability, but when he was receiving EDD for these past 2 months, there were issues with processing the payments which led us to be late on some bills.

We are not the asking type because we try to figure it out and usually at the 11th hour we can. I don't think this time we can. If he doesn't receive disability timely, we won't be able to pay our rent/electricity. I'm worried about electricity as well because I work from home to stay with our daughter.

With the money received, we will use it for what it's intended for: possible future medical bills, rent, electric bill, and other bills.
