Support for Jesse Rothert
Early Sunday, August 29, Jesse was in a terrifying paragliding accident that nearly cost him his life. A simple error while landing led to a bad crash. He was immediately flown to Renown Hospital, where the angelic magicians masterfully and skillfully saved his life. Xrays revealed that his pelvis was broken in 12 pieces, his pubic bone snapped and contusions in his spine and ribs, amongst a lot of internal bruising and bleeding. The first couple days Jess was intubated and kept on a high drug dosage to keep him asleep and avoid movement. Throughout the week his breathing tube was removed, he was able to communicate, his vitals returned to normal, and he had two successful surgeries to piece his shattered pelvis and pubic bone back together.
By the grace of God, Jesse survived an impact that 9/10 people would not have lived through. All summer long, Jesse thought he was training for a 100K trail run in November, but the unbeknownst truth was that he was actually getting in supreme fitness to save his own life when his body would need it most.
To know Jesse is to witness fearless passion. The mountains are his soulmates, and the wild is his home. A respectful, gentle, expert backcountry enthusiast, Jesse lives a life of adventure, viewing sights rarely seen. He learned how to paraglide as another way to experience the beautiful mountains he loves so dearly. In October 2017 he received his paragliders pilot's license and has since continued to hone his skills throughout the Eastern Sierra.
We admire him while he inspires us, and we want to support his journey back to the mountaintops, letting him know he's not alone and that we've got his back during this healing chapter.
With a long road of rehab ahead, Jesse’s path to recovery involves hard work and patience, but it’s an encouraging and hopeful outlook. He will fight his way back, and you better believe he will be stronger and more determined than ever to grab life by the horns and experience nature's beauty to the max. It’s a humbling privilege he does not and will not take for granted.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your love and support to get our boy back on his feet.
