Anyone who knows “Big Jerry” Rust knows he lives life full throttle—with a wild spirit, a big heart, and a deep love for his family.

Jerry is a devoted father, loving husband, and cherished “Goopa” who has always put his family and community first. Recently, he faced serious health complications related to congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and other medical challenges. He spent over a month in the ICU and is now in a specialized facility working to regain his mobility and ability to walk, talk, and eat. We are so grateful to have him alive and improving each day.

These unexpected challenges have turned life upside down for his wife, Barbi, and their loved ones, who now face a long road to recovery alongside him. Funds raised will go directly toward the growing medical and life expenses accumulating each day.

A lifelong resident of Lakeside, Jerry has built meaningful relationships and lasting friendships. Known for his big personality and adventurous spirit, he’s touched many lives. Whether he’s sharing his love of music on the guitar, out on his tractor, or behind the wheel of a truck, Jerry has always embraced life with energy and grit—and we can’t wait to see him back doing what he loves.
