Support for Jeremiah’s Health and Stability
Donation protected
Jeremiah has been in the hospital for nearly 8 months. His journey began with challenges right from the start. He was born on August 8th and astonishingly, in just a few weeks, Jeremiah will experience his first day outside of a hospital since birth. Jeremiah came into this world born with a severe health condition called a Laryngeal Cleft (on a scale of 1 to 4, his was a 3) requiring 2 significant surgeries. Essentially, his airway and esophagus shared the same space, causing him to aspirate. He was also born with difficulties digesting food, and had a feeding tube placed within the first week of life.
The backstory of Jeremiah’s arrival into this world is difficult to unravel. In December 2022, faced with an unexpected call from my estranged son, I made the difficult decision to support him and his girlfriend, despite years of estrangement. Through prayers and deliberation, my family and I helped provide them with housing and assistance, ensuring they had the support they needed, including a bed, essentials, furniture, baby items, etc., as we prepared for sweet Jeremiah’s arrival.
Jeremiah’s birth brought both joy and immediate fear. It was clear right away that something wasn’t right as he struggled to breathe normally. He was transported on day 2 of life to Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center. Every day was a fight for life for Jeremiah. Before he could have his surgery to repair his cleft, he had to weigh a minimum of 12 lbs. His first surgery was initially a success, but failed after contracting RSV where he then spent the next 72 days on a ventilator. I spent nearly every day after work at Jeremiah’s bedside praying for God to heal this sweet soul.
On day 73, he was successfully extubated after multiple previous attempts and talks with God along the way! A few weeks later, he received another surgery to repair the cleft again. This time, it worked and Jeremiah is getting stronger and stronger every day showing us how resilient he is!
Unfortunately, Jeremiah’s parents are struggling at this time and are unable to care for Jeremiah, having led to their temporary loss of custody over him and we’re now faced with limited options. Our family is determined to care for him, but the financial strain is immense.
With Jeremiah’s delicate health condition, daycare isn’t an option, and the costs of his care, from diapers to medical appointments, are substantial. He is on a feeding tube and receives continuous feeds through a G-Tube in his stomach. We find ourselves in need of support to ensure Jeremiah doesn’t have to enter foster care.
Donations will help contribute to his well-being, providing him with the care and resources he needs to thrive. Jeremiah has already endured so much in his short life; he deserves the chance to be surrounded by love and stability.
Your generosity will make a tangible difference in Jeremiah’s life, ensuring he receives the care and attention he deserves. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for standing with us in this journey and for showering Jeremiah with love and support. Your kindness will help us give him the best possible start in life. Thank you for praying with us and for us and for being a beacon of hope for Jeremiah and our family!!
