I'm a stroke survivor, and for the past four years, I have been living with the ongoing symptoms that come with it. I have done the therapy, attended countless doctor's appointments, and tried to stay hopeful, but the financial burden from medical bills has become overwhelming. I am now behind on my medical bills and mortgage for three months, and my source of income is gone. I have gone through my savings just trying to keep up.
Before my stroke, I worked in banking, a job I loved because I got to interact with people every day. Now, because of my speech challenges (descriptive aphasia), I can't return to that career. Speech therapy and doctor's offices have become my new normal, but they aren't exactly the kind of conversations I want to have. It's also made it hard to find relationships or connect with others, as most of my time and energy goes into recovery. I do my best to make ends meet with part-time jobs that don't require much talking, like hostessing or serving, but it's not enough to cover my expenses.
I'm reaching out for help because I truly need it. Your support would mean the world to me during this difficult time, and would help me catch up on urgent bills and provide some stability as I continue to recover. Please help if you can.
