Support for Jen's Cancer Journey

As most of you are aware, Jen was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, triple negative breast cancer in April 2024. She wasted no time, seeking out the best care possible at Dana Farber and began chemo on 5/13. She hit a little bump in the road in August when she developed neutropenia which led to blood transfusions and a five night hospital stay. She bounced back from that and continued on. After 20 weeks and 16 rounds of chemo, Jen was able to ring that bell! That part was over! After a bit of rest and a much needed vacation from medications, Jen underwent a double mastectomy with expanders placed on 10/31. We all thanked God when it was discovered that the lymph nodes were negative! Shortly thereafter, she received the wonderful message: “Jen, you had a pathological complete response to chemo, and you are cancer-free!” But it can’t be all smooth sailing, right? About 4 weeks after surgery, Jen developed a pesky and persistent infection that required several different antibiotic regimens (and the rough side effects that go along with them) and several hospital stays. Luckily, she was able to avoid any further surgical intervention and press on to the next step: radiation. 19 days of treatment started 1/17/25 and we are all overjoyed that her final round was this week!! She will continue her immunotherapy treatments every 3 weeks until May and the final step will be another surgery at the end of the summer.
Throughout her journey, Jen has maintained her strength and sanity with walks, supportive nutrition (including her “green drink” and bone broth!), having her little friend TT at her side, fitness, an amazing husband, an army of supporters including her Mount Alvernia colleagues and parents, lots of prayers, and an unwavering faith that she was going to beat this. And she’s doing just that!
For those who know Jen well, she has always taken great pride in being independent and has worked hard to hold her own financially. But what she’s been through (and continues to go through), even with great insurance, is too much for anyone to handle alone. Very shortly after Jen’s diagnosis she had to immediately stop working and due to unforeseen circumstances she has not been able to return as planned. As a teacher, she was not eligible for PFML and can only collect 60% of her salary through long term disability. The medical bills are mounting, some of which have already gone to collections. On top of that, Jen also currently owes $6000 to cover health insurance payments that weren’t able to be deducted. The total owed is already in the tens of thousands, and she’s not done yet, unfortunately.
With all this said, Jen has allowed us to start this GoFundMe to help with all of these financial burdens. Any amount that you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated and will allow Jen to focus on healing physically and emotionally. All funds received will go directly to Jen’s medical bills. If you are not in a position to donate, please consider sharing this GoFundMe and please continue to pray for Jen and for her amazing medical team that will, no doubt, get her to the finish line.
If you would like to donate to Jen directly you can do so via Venmo to Jennifer Peters (@jennifertriplenegative) or checks can be written to Jennifer Peters. A dedicated account has been set up at Norfolk Community Credit Union (18 Union Street Suite 104 Norfolk 02056) for this sole purpose. Checks should include “012300” in the memo.
We invite you all to join us in standing with Jen and supporting her in whatever way you can until she can put this chapter of her life behind her.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jen’s Circle of Love
