Jennifer is a devoted mother to her 5-year-old son and her newborn baby boy, Grayson. Recently, she faced a frightening and unexpected emergency when she had to undergo a C-section at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia. After delivery, Grayson developed respiratory distress because the fluid wouldn’t clear from his lungs, and then multiple pneumothoraxes developed, making his condition even more serious. His health challenges have not resolved without medical intervention, and he is now receiving critical care in a NICU that is more than an hour away from home, making this time even more challenging for their family.

The distance and the length of Grayson’s NICU stay mean that Jennifer is facing significant travel, food, and housing expenses, in addition to the mounting costs of over a week in the NICU. As her parents, my husband and I wish we could help, but we are currently unemployed and unable to provide the financial support Jennifer needs. Despite these hardships, Jennifer remains strong and focused on her children, but she is not someone who finds it easy to ask for help.
