Support for Jenna
Donation protected
Sent on behalf of Kelly McCarron Sheehy (sister of Kevin McCarron, Sue Sandoval, and Keri Allen) and Ryan Sheehy (brother of Marcela Dzeda, Danny Sheehy, and Megan Boghosian).
Jenna is a kind, athletic, and charismatic 15-year-old girl with a warm smile and a heart of gold.
On Super Bowl Sunday (February 2), Jenna suddenly lost consciousness and stopped breathing. Her dad, Ryan, administered CPR. At the local hospital, doctors realized the gravity and urgency of her condition and had her medevaced with her mom, Kelly, via helicopter to the regional pediatric ICU. There, medical staff found an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) which had burst, causing major hemorrhaging in her brain. Two surgical interventions so far have kept her in the fight. Jenna likely was born with this condition, which sat dormant until that day.
Just the day before, Jenna played in her soccer game, spent time with her friends and family, and showed no symptoms of distress; this sudden turn of events has left the family devastated.
Jenna’s doctors are first-rate, yet realistic. She continues to be heavily sedated and her medical team has been working around the clock to monitor her intracranial pressure and vital signs. Preliminary scans cannot determine the long-term extent of the AVM’s impact. More surgery is ahead, and the bottom line is that Jenna’s road to recovery will be long—many months under the best of scenarios.
Her parents, Kelly and Ryan, anxiously wait at her bedside, and family, friends, and neighbors have rallied with support and meals. It truly takes a village and Jenna’s village is absolutely amazing.
As you might imagine, this catastrophic medical situation puts the entire family on the financial brink. After insurance coverage, the remaining medical, rehabilitation, and support expenses will create a life-altering burden of debt. This fundraiser has been established to ease this burden so that the family can focus on Jenna’s healing and return to a sense of normalcy.
Please give what you can. And if you cannot give, please join us by praying and sending healing energy.
