Support for Jemma, Dan, Abby, Jack & Ruby
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tash and I’m fundraising on behalf of my friend Jemma and her partner Dan. Together with the girls from our Dragons Netball team – and with the support from the wider netball community – we’re hoping to ease some of the pressure Jemma and her family are facing right now.
Jemma has been a passionate and committed member of the Rockhampton netball community for many years, she plays both indoor and outdoor netball, has represented multiple clubs, and is a regular umpire – always giving her time and energy to the game and the people around her. Now, as her partner Dan remains in a coma following a traumatic fall, it’s our turn to show up for her.
Dan is currently in a coma in ICU at Rockhampton Base Hospital after suffering a traumatic brain bleed and facial fractures. He was placed in an induced coma due to pain and pressure on his brain, and while recent scans have thankfully shown the bleeding has stopped, he still hasn’t woken up.
At the time of the incident, Dan was alone and unconscious for approximately 45 minutes before a member of the public found him and called for help. This delay, along with the extent of his injuries, has made his condition even more serious.
Dan is now also battling an infection and has been sedated again while being treated with antibiotics. His medical team hopes to begin reducing sedation soon to assess his brain function and begin what is expected to be a long road to recovery.
Dan and Jemma are loving parents to Abby (11), Jack (8), and Ruby (4). Jemma is a police officer serving the North Rockhampton community, and Dan works full time as a civil operator in Rockhampton. They are a hardworking young family now facing one of the toughest moments of their lives.
Jemma is currently on leave to be by Dan’s side and care for their children — but she will run out of all her sick and recreation leave by May 23rd. With Dan unable to work, their income will stop entirely. Along with the emotional toll, the family is now facing serious financial strain.
We’re raising funds to help ease that burden. Donations will go toward everyday essentials — including groceries, bills, and mortgage payments — to help Jemma and the kids stay afloat during this incredibly tough time.
Every bit of support helps. Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion — it truly means the world to their family.
