Life-Saving Support for Deported Queer Elder

Donation protected
To our fellow A.B.O. Comix community,

Thank you so much for your support for our longtime artist contributor and friend, Jeferson Borba de Souza. We are updating this fundraising request with some emergency needs

As you may know, Jeferson spent 25 years incarcerated as a political prisoner in a U.S. prison. Because Jeferson leaked government secrets, he was subjected to horrific abuse in prison, including rape that left him disabled and traumatized. He was finally released from prison in 2019 when he was immediately put on a plane and deported to Brazil where he had not been in decades and had no resources, money or place to live. COVID-19 hit Brazil very hard almost immediately after he got there, and he has been struggling to survive since.

We have been sending Jeferson money nearly every month since his deportation, but it is barely enough to cover his daily Insulin shots, food and shelter. He was fortunate to find people in a similar situation that he has been sharing a new home with, but they are living in abject poverty. They do not have beds, a proper way to cook, nor much of anything to comfort them through the difficult days.

Jeferson recently suffered a minor stroke and was left with medical debt that he has no way to pay. Thankfully, he is on the mend and we had the chance to speak with him recently and see his beautiful smile.

Jeferson remains optimistic and full of hope. He is working on starting a new life in Brazil with his chosen family, and writing out his incredible life story. But he needs help.

We are trying to fundraise $5000 for him to help cover his medical costs and get him set up with basic necessities like a comfortable place to sleep, a functional way to cook, clothes and supplies.

Any amount you can contribute will make a huge impact. You can also help by buying his first book, Dark Matters and Prophesy Secrets of the Ouija Board! Please help us spread the word!

In love and solidarity,

The A.B.O Comix Team

A recent email from Jeferson:
Thank you so very much for your most welcomed rescue. Sometimes I wonder about my freedom. When I was without it, the only thing that I thought was how wonderful and amazing it would be to be free. Now that I'm free life seems to be punishing me a thousandfold within the very freedom I hoped so much for. I KNOW that life is made to be unfair but, if wasn't for your kindness and caring I would have perished long ago on these pandemic times. And finding [name redacted] was one of these one time in a lifetime miracles that only the Divine can provide. You and [name redacted] are the living proof that miracles do occur more often than not, regardless of the odds of a given situation. Imagine to be alone and lost in a brave new world of the future (remember that it was 1996 the last year that I ever seen the outside world and only "rediscovered" it in 2019, without preparation for the crude reality of the 21st Century, once my own memories of the outside remained in the 20th century that I once was...suddenly I've discovered a world with cell phones (the last one I had was a Motorola with a little antenna and a bulky folding body ver much different from the cell phones of nowadays), cars that can park themselves, smart houses (Heĺlo, Alexa, I still kind of afraid of you...you seemed too darn real...) and a plethora of things that seemed quite normal even for a child of these times but look very much weird and strange to a lost revived dinosaur such as myself). Seems like my strange story never ends after all the weirdness I already went through before I got arrested under the most absolutely unusual circumstances, faced a feeling existence of a  frozen time circumstances to come on freedom to a pandemic world and encountered a world so much different from the one that I've left behind to the point of feeling an alien in my own planet. I guess my life indeed makes a heck of a story proving that reality can be, indeed, way more strange than any fiction anyone could create for a movie. Anyway, just know that my gratitude has no proper words to express to you the level of it I feel towards you and these most amazing  people connected to you (and to me, by association) . You guys are, literally, my guarding angels and I thank everyday to God to have you all into my life. Thank you so very much from the very bottom of my heart. God bless you always.

Sincerely
Jeferson Borba de Souza

P.S.- We are alive and hopeful only because of your most amazing loving caring, kindness and most wonderful sense of empathy. Our gratitude to you, [name redacted] and the others have no limits. I only wish I could do something to help you all at ABO COMIX to continue on being the wonderful miraculously loving people that you are. On writing my memoirs know for sure that ABO will have the deserving position that it most certainly has. Or if Hollywood ever heard about my crazy story and decide to make a movie of it. Who knows? Weirdest things happened before...why not this one, too? For sure they would not find easily a most strange and amazing real life story such as mine....and the greatest important role ABO COMIX have on it....they only need to check out the Knowhere Repository of Hidden Knowledge (www.knowhererepository.com...a hug and a kiss...bye for now and, once more, THANKS!!!
