I remember Jed as a little thing, running around, having fun, with a constant smile on his face. Now, he's a teenager that towers over me, but he still has that winning smile on his face.

One year ago this April, when he was just 14 years old, he was diagnosed with Leukemia. Since that diagnosis, he has been putting up one heck of a fight against this cruel foe. He's a fighter and is quite resilient but his battle still wages on. Currently, he is at Hershey Medical with a bad, bacterial infection. He has been in immense pain, feverish, and has received blood and platelets. They have been running cultures, which typically take days to come back but some have already come back positive. He may even have to have his port removed which is not ideal given that's how he receives his treatment.

Jed's parents are James and Claudine Skidmore. Mr. Skidmore was my high school history teacher at Carroll Christian Schools. He still works there full time as a history teacher. He is known for his in depth re-enactments of history during class and his care and compassion for his students. He is also a part of the security team at church. Claudine has spent years caring for the disabled and the elderly who cannot care for themselves. She has made a career doing thankless work that requires compassion and patience. Both have had a profound impact on our community. They put Jesus first in all that they do. They have been married for 18 years and have 4 children, Amelia, Jed, Tabitha, and Isaiah.

Because their lives are devoted to ministry, they do not have an excess of funds to pay for the tsunami of debt that cancer treatment causes. Claudine also cannot work full time like she used to because she stays at Jed's side through all his treatments and hospital stays. James continues to work full time, serve at church, and hold down the fort at home. They are both truly selfless and continue to persevere on.

If you look it up, leukemia treatment even with insurance, can cost anywhere from $200,000 to an upwards of $800,000. It is known for its lengthy treatment process that goes on for years. That is why I am starting this go fund me. They need our help, support, and love during this time. They have had a profound impact on so many of us and I know there are so many of us who would like to give back to them.

Most importantly, please pray for them. Pray for Lord's healing, strength, and peace. Secondly, if you are able to donate, please do, every little bit helps. Lets rally around them and show them just how loved and appreciated they are.
