A Loving Farewell to Ed: Supporting Final Expenses
BLUF: Mom died Dec 26th, Dad died April 13th, Lost job April 25th.
Dear friends, family, and community,
We are Kristen and James Abbott, and we are writing to you with heavy hearts. Many of you know that James' mother, Jeannie, underwent brain surgery and spent the last two and a half years of her life in long-term care. She passed away on December 26, 2024. Throughout this challenging time, her devoted husband, Ed, visited her almost daily while bravely trying to maintain his own life, including his church, clients, and ministry work.
Just six weeks after Jeannie's passing, Ed received a devastating diagnosis: stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He began chemotherapy and quickly became very weak. Following a fall at home, Ed was hospitalized and subsequently moved to a care facility. He has fought tirelessly against infections while diligently participating in occupational and physical therapy and adhering to a restrictive diet.
Sadly, despite his incredible strength and determination, Ed's body grew too weak. Today, April 13, 2025, he peacefully joined his beloved Jeannie After 108 days apart, together again!
We are now faced with the unexpected responsibility of covering Ed's final expenses. Jeannie and Ed had a small immediate family, but they were blessed with a large and loving community of friends, church members, and clients who became like family.
In addition, on monday april 21st we were informed that the contract James was working was not going to be renewed as previously expected. So now with the additional stresses there, now job search has been added to the plate.
If you feel called to offer support during this difficult time, any contribution, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated. James is the sole provider for our family and is now carrying the full weight of these responsibilities. Your generosity will provide immense comfort and relief as we navigate this profound loss.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support. As a reminder to everyone, there are things we have control over and some things we do not, but something that is always in our control is attitude. We are thankful that neuther Ed nor Jeannie are in pain anymore and James is excited to find new opportunities. This we show and teach our kids, that reguardless of circumstances attitude makes all the difference. If you made it this far I want to say thank you kindly and if you are not in a financial point in your life to assist, sharing the story and this link could help greatly. We love and appreciate every single one of you.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kristen and James Abbott and daughters..
