I'm not the kind of person that asks for help. I actually hate to ask for help. But I've gotten to the point where I've done all that I can for my mom, and I need more help.
My mom was officially diagnosed with ALS in August of 2017. Her symptoms started over 3 years ago, but the doctors couldn't make the proper diagnosis. ALS is a terminal disease that starts with progressive paralysis. She will eventually lose her ability to move completely, talk, swallow and even breathe. The worst part is that there is no cure.
She has already lost her ability to walk, strength in her arms and torso muscles, and it's getting harder for her to breathe. Her condition is only getting worse. It breaks my heart to see her go through this, especially after surviving cancer and so much more. All I can do is be there for her and make her as comfortable as possible during the time that she has left.
My plan was to purchase or lease a handicap accessible minivan so that I can have the freedom to take her to places. Especially one of our favorite places, Lake Geneva. But it turns out that we need about $3,000 as a down payment in order to make the monthly payments affordable. We also need additional help at home, and will most likely need to start hospice care sooner than we thought.
This is the hardest thing that I have ever gone through and it's killing me. Everyday that I watch my mom get weaker it just tears me apart. Any help that you can give would be phenomenal and definitely will not go unnoticed.
