My mom, Jazz Belcher, is the heart of our family. Last Friday, she went to the movies with us, but had to leave early because of unbearable abdominal pain. By the next morning, she could barely walk, and my nana rushed her to the hospital. We soon learned that her colon had flipped inside out, and she needed emergency surgery. Seeing my mom in so much pain was terrifying for my sister and me—she’s always been so strong, and it’s hard to watch her struggle. She’s still in the hospital now, and the uncertainty has been overwhelming for all of us.
Jazz is the kind of person who makes everyone laugh and feel welcome, but she’s been under a lot of stress from work and hasn’t had a chance to start decorating for the holidays. She worries about being a good mom, even though my sister and I know she does everything for us. With her out of work and facing medical recovery, we’re worried about keeping up with the house note, car note, and utilities. My granddaddy is helping, but we need extra support to make sure we don’t fall behind and to help my mom feel loved and cared for during this difficult time.
We’re asking for help to cover our home expenses for December and to buy a holiday wreath to brighten my mom’s spirits. Anyone who knows Jazz knows how much she loves her family and how she always puts us first. Thank you to everyone who considers helping—your support will mean the world to us and show my mom just how much she is loved.
