On January 24th at 12:09 a.m., FDNY members responded to an odor of gas at 3485 Bivonia Street in the Bronx. While they were on scene, a gas explosion occurred on the upper floors. Tragically, two lives were lost, and FDNY EMS transported 15 people to local hospitals. Fire Marshals are still investigating the cause.

This is the moment when the flames right above my apartment destroyed everything my family and I owned. I was asleep with my son, Jayziah, and my boyfriend, Lee. Like so many of our neighbors, we lost absolutely everything in minutes. I didn’t have time to grab a single belonging not my investments, not the things I worked so hard for, not even the essentials.

While I am eternally grateful that my family is alive, I am still physically, mentally, and emotionally in disbelief. My family helped create this GoFundMe because starting from scratch is overwhelming, and I’m praying that those who know us and even those who don’t can find it in their hearts to help us rebuild.
