Support for Jayce Keyser - Explosion Victim
Donation protected
On June 13th, 2024, Jayce Keyser, age 21, began his job at Alternative Fuel Solutions in Huntington, IN. While he was excited for this new endeavor, just 3 shifts in, on Monday, June 17th, tragedy erupted. The details are still somewhat limited as the full report has not been finalized by Huntington Fire Department and The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office. From what we understand, as Jayce entered a trailer on the dock an explosion occurred. This caused a chain reaction, igniting combustibles in the area. One of those being the propane fork truck Jayce was on. As he tried to escape, Jayce quickly performed a fire safety measure taught in childhood; Stop, Drop, and Roll. This action saved his life. It was also the starting point for his painful journey ahead. After crawling out of the smoke, he was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. There, it was determined his injuries were too extensive and severe to receive the level of care he needed. He was then airlifted to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. After a terrifying 2 days, his care team was able to remove his breathing tube and lift his sedation. At this time, aside from keeping his vitals stable, his most severe injuries include 3rd degree burns over 28% of his body.
He had his first of many surgeries on Thursday, June 20th. His journey will be extensive. I have started this campaign to help his mother, Nikki Ripley and his father and stepmother, Nate and Angela Keyser to have the financial means to be there for Jayce. His stay will be lengthy, and follow-up care is expected to be many months. Donations will allow his immediate family to be there during the critical times. Gifts will go to their hotel, food, and fuel expenses. Provide the sterile environment Jayce will need once he completes his extended stay. As well as supplementing loss of income of his parents during this time. Thank you for your consideration and prayers.
Jayce was not the only seriously injured employee. His friend and coworker, Brayten Jones, is also currently at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. While his friend has stated that he feels the support should go to Jayce as his injuries are much more severe, we do hope you consider supporting him and his family through their own fundraising means.
Lastly, remember that the Stop, Drop, and Roll fire safety technique could save your life.
