While on vacation in Arizona, Javier and his family were hit by a car driven by a person under the influence of drugs and alcohol. While Martina and Angel suffered minor injuries, Javier's were significant. The jaws of life were needed to remove him from the car and he suffered a serious rib fracture and a blood clot in his leg. He has only recently been able to return to work and his car was totaled. The driver at fault appears to have poor insurance and resources, so legal recourse does not look promising. Funds are needed to compensate him for lost income, out-of-pocket medical costs, and replacing his car.
