Jason was a cherished member of our Mariposa community, known for his kindness, athleticism, and unwavering friendship. After joining the local Set Free program, Jason embraced a new life in Christ and quickly became a beloved friend to many. He formed deep bonds with the Bartolome and Dakuliga families, working alongside Dean and Jeremaia and becoming like a brother to them. Jason’s generosity and warmth touched countless lives, whether he was on the construction site, playing adult league softball and soccer, or simply sharing his infectious joy with those around him.

Originally from Canada, Jason worked tirelessly to build a new life in Mariposa for his wife, Leanne, and their daughter, Amariah. He was devoted to his family, often making long journeys to bring them from Canada so they could be together. Their time as a family in Mariposa was filled with hope and anticipation for a bright future. Most recently, Jason’s father visited from Canada, and together they explored Yosemite, met friends, and visited projects Jason had completed. Tragically, during this visit, Jason and his father were involved in a car accident that took Jason’s life and left his father hospitalized.

In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, Leanne and Amariah are facing immense challenges—navigating grief, handling funeral arrangements, and managing the logistics of returning to Canada. The funds raised will go directly toward covering funeral expenses, transportation, and moving costs to help them during this incredibly difficult time. Any support you can offer, whether financial or through continued prayers, is deeply appreciated as Leanne and Amariah find their way forward with hope and faith.
