My cousin Jason Spruill was an amazing and kind person. He was brilliantly smart and a genius with computers. He had type one diabetes which his kidneys stopped functioning several years back and he had to start dialysis. He worked as long as he could, but his vision became so poor that he could no longer see to do the work he was so passionate about. He would continue to do odd jobs here and there for people he could, but between his health and his vision, he was never able to have a stable income, other than disability. His loved gardening and playing video games. Each summer he looked forward to a week of fishing at the beach with his best friends. I loved babysitting him as a baby, watching him and my brother play and grow and graduate (they’re the same age), and making him enchiladas when he’d come help us around the house. He looked after my parents, as well as his own Dad.
Unfortunately with all the wonderful memories comes the hard part where we have to say goodbye. With that it has to be mentioned that his father Charles had passed away 36 days prior to him. They lived together, so every penny they had went to taking care of his father after he passed away. Jason was a proud man and would never ask for anything, so it’s hard to do this, but his sister Ashley does not have the finances either. He has also has other expenses that will need to be taken care of. His sister Ashley has 4 children of her own and does not have the means to take care of everything. Even with family support to help with the funeral expenses, there are the other bills that will need to be paid.
No one ever wants to ask for help in this way, but we just want to do the best for him, which is what he always did for everyone else. If you can find it in your heart to help, please do. He would have helped anyone, and I always say it will come back to you! Thank you for reading, sharing in our love for him, and if you are able, in donating. ❤️
