My dad, Jason McAdory, was found unresponsive and incoherent Thursday morning when I went to see him. My brother Shawn had come into town to surprise him, and together we discovered him in this state. We immediately called for an ambulance, and he was admitted to Canyon Vista Medical Center. Right now, my dad is unable to work, which puts a significant strain on us—his children, myself, Shawn, and his daughter Amethyst—as we do our best to care for him.
Currently, my dad is awaiting Disability benefits to be approved by the government. He was already denied once, and we are now working with a Disability lawyer to appeal. We are confident he will get his benefits back after being cut off, but it’s just a matter of when. In the meantime, he is undergoing vigorous testing at the hospital, where the amazing team at Canyon Vista Medical Center is trying to pinpoint why his levels are so low and why his body is not absorbing nutrients properly. He has been moved to a more intensive care room, though not ICU yet, and we are grateful for the care he is receiving.
With my dad unable to work, we know he will need necessities and support for his recovery after leaving the hospital. The only benefits he currently has access to are his full government healthcare, which we are so thankful for. He relies on us, his children and close family members, for housing and food, and we do our best to provide for him. Myself, Amethyst, and Shawn’s ask for help for our father means a lot to us at this time. Any help and thoughts are appreciated. We know how difficult things can be with everything going on, and any help is greatly appreciated as he will need more necessities as he comes out of the hospital.
