On January 15th, Jason, my brother-in-law, experienced a grand mal seizure that put him into in cardiac distress. Since it was a snow day, both my sister Bonnie and my nephew Adam were home and near Jason when it happened. They both had to perform CPR for about eight minutes before EMTs arrived. After a series of tests and an MRI, doctors discovered a 2.7cm mass in Jason’s brain. He is now scheduled for surgery in early February to determine the nature of the mass, and we are all anxiously awaiting answers and next steps.
Jason is eager to move forward, but everything depends on the doctors’ availability. Bonnie is doing her best to plan ahead and keep things together, but she’s struggling to balance all parts of their lives with this unexpected event and everything with work and family. Both Jason and Bonnie are deeply worried for their three children, who witnessed their dad being unresponsive and are still processing what happened. On top of the emotional and financial toll, there is a lot of uncertainty about Jason’s ability to return to work, which adds to the stress and worry for the whole family.
This GoFundMe is set up to help Jason and Bonnie with any missed work, travel from their home in Waddington to the hospital in Syracuse (about a 3 hour drive), and any medical expenses that are already beginning to add up. We welcome a lot of prayers and are so grateful to have the Sabatinis in our lives. Bonnie and Jason have always been the first to help others and build a stronger community wherever they live. Now, we’re hoping that their community—and anyone moved by their story—can come together to support them in this difficult time.
We will plan to update this page once surgery happens and next steps! We are so grateful for your contribution!
