Support for Jason Atwell-hit by drunk driver 6.24

Please help us gather support for my sister and her husband, Jason, who was struck head-on by an uninsured drunk driver on 6/24/23.

Jason is in the hospital with unimaginable pain from a fractured skull, broken ribs, vertebrae, and three out of four broken limbs, including his femur, which shattered into over 40 pieces. He's unable to walk and has a long road ahead of him.

Jason's the kind of person who's always helping others, which is what he'd been out doing the day of the accident. He hung upside down in the totaled car for over an hour as the rescue squad worked to pull him from the vehicle. He was brought back to life twice and life-flighted to a trauma center, where he's undergone multiple surgeries.

In the best-case scenario, we're looking at several months of hospitalization and physical therapy before he can hopefully walk and work again. Possible nerve damage and additional surgeries are a concern.

After six years with his current employer, Jason was transitioning out, hoping to take a position at the local VA hospital and support our Veterans. Something he's always wanted to do!

Jason is a Nurse Practitioner who's received Daisy Awards and Patient-Feedback Awards for his exceptional bedside manner. He can no longer start the new job, and his current employer cannot keep him on past the end of this month, devastatingly leaving the family without income or medical coverage.

They'll need support with basic living expenses, medical bills, durable medical equipment, and a new vehicle.

Jason is a beloved husband, dad to three sons and two bonus daughters, and dog-dad to their sheepdog Violet. He's known for his big heart and has shown his family and patients time and time again that he will step up and help others whenever they're in need.
