Support for Jaquith Family During Cancer Treatment

Update from Heidi
2/14/2022

Test results from his 6 month post transplant bone marrow biopsy is back! There is NO DETECTION OF CANCER IN HIS BODY!!! Huge milestone! Such a relief. Next big one is at one year and statistics go up. But we know GOD IS GREATER than statistics. He is good in the good and the bad. He stays the same.  So thankful for the prayers, blood , and gifts. @eric_jaquith and @idalid_jaquith prayed over the stem cells collected from Eric that this would be EXACTLY what Joels body needed. ❤️❤️❤️ while we are so sooo thankful we also mourn with those who mourn. Not everyone gets good news. Our hearts and daily prayers are for those still in the deep, the relapsed, the hurting, the waiting. We stand with you.  We LOVE YOU ALL!!

REMISSION We just got initial test results that cancer is not detected in his body AND that he has 100 percent engrafted Eric Jaquith’s cells!!

It’s like if Joel's yard was full of weeds (bad weed that’s hard to get rid of/cancer cells), the chemo and transplant wiped out ALL grass and ALL weeds and planted new grass with Eric’s grass seeds. Now little grass tips are poking through. Test show NO WEEDS and identified it’s Eric’s grass that’s growing. We are a long way from being a luscious meadow but we are on the right path. Cancer or weeds are highest to come back in the first year.

Please continue to pray that cancer NEVER enters his body again. We aren’t out of the woods yet but this is a good rest stop with good news, and the hardest part of the journey is behind us

**Update from Joel
4/25/20210

Last day of chemo. The bag will be removed tonight at 11 pm. I will be having more over the next six months (but these are the most intense doses). Starting tomorrow, the next three weeks will be in recovery mode. This is where we pray the body has been “reset” and after the three weeks, my body will stop producing the cancerous cells.

Docs say not to trust my body as much. Last night I got up to fast and was close to fainting. Thankfully a nurse was there to hold me and take me back to bed. I will be moving slower next time :).

Also, for the next two weeks, I will have no immunity. So pray for no infections!

I believe in Jesus’ complete healing and that he will restore my body to its original creation!

Thankful for all of you. You probably feel helpless.... but that’s ok. I’m in a good place.

Joel and Heidi are so grateful for the love and support of everyone helping.  Please keep praying, they have a long journey ahead.

Update**  (4/21/21)
Joel has completed 4 days of chemo treatments and holding strong. He has been keeping as active as possible by slowly walking the halls while saying prayers for the other patients on his floor. Joel and Heidi's heart for people is so very big.  The hospital staff have been supportive and kind. In true Heidi fashion, she is beginning to learn all of the doctors & nurses names, how many kids they each have, and will undoubtedly also know how they take their coffee. Joel is being fortified with times of prayer, worship music in his room, and watching clips of the movie Gladiator!

The kids are with their nana Jodie and passing the time doing art projects, drawings, and facetime calls with their dad.  Yesterday they learned more about how to care for Joel after the chemo and the various routines that will have to be implemented. We continue to wait for results from the bone marrow testing and the possibility of needing a bone marrow transplant.

In their own words, “God is bigger than statistics.” Joel and Heidi would like to thank you for your outpouring of generosity in various ways and for the continued prayer support. We keep getting reports of people that have never even met them personally but are joining this journey and fighting alongside.

UPDATE**(4/18/2021)

Today we learned that Joel has been diagnosed with AML Leukemia.  Joel’s doctors have advised that the road to recovery will be longer than originally planned.  We continue to stand in faith and agreement for a soon and speedy recovery. Due to the unforeseen recovery plan, we are adjusting the GoFundMe amount to help support them through this new journey.

Original post (4/17/2021)
Joel has been diagnosed with Leukemia.   A sentence we never thought we would be writing.

Dear Friends and Family,
You are seeing this because you are among those of us who love and cherish Joel and Heidi and their kids. Any one of us could share stories for days about their genuine love and generosity towards others. It goes without saying they need our love, support, and prayers at this time. Joel has been diagnosed with Leukemia, and we do not know what the road ahead will hold, but we know this is a marathon, not a sprint.

The family and close friends of faith believe in God’s power to heal and do a miracle. Thank you for staying positive in your thoughts and your words. Your friendship is both vital and reassuring to them.

Joel has been blessed with a fantastic job but will be going on disability. These funds are being raised to support the family during this season of uncertainty and go towards expenses such as medical costs, local travel, care sessions, counseling/therapy, etc. Let's help lift this heavy burden.

Since the future is unknown, and we are not sure what the journey ahead entails, we are setting this at $15K and may adjust accordingly as time goes on. Joel and Heidi are eternally grateful for your outpouring of love and support…as Heidi posted, “Our Hope is anchored in Christ. We serve a God of miracles. We serve a God who walks in the darkest of storms with us.”  Thank you again for joining with us as we fight this battle on our knees.
