Janin and I have been friends since seventh grade, and I’m starting this fundraiser at her request. Her partner, Hector Jaiman, recently suffered a stroke and required emergency surgery. Since then, Janin has been working closely with social workers to secure temporary guardianship of Hector, so she can help manage his care and support their family. Together, Janin and Hector share a daughter, and there are four more children from previous relationships who are also part of their lives.

The sudden medical crisis has left Hector unable to work for the foreseeable future, and Janin is facing a mountain of bills and expenses. She’s doing everything she can to keep their household running, but the immediate future includes rent, utilities, and transportation costs for Hector’s medical appointments. On top of that, Janin wants to make sure she can provide food for her and the kids, especially on the days when everything feels overwhelming.
