My name is Alisha Dillon, and I am a Community Health Worker in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am also the cousin of Angela Anderson, the mother of two teenagers who were tragically struck while walking home from the neighborhood convenience store on the corner of Craig and Simmons in North Las Vegas. What should have been a normal everyday moment turned into a devastating loss that has left our entire family in shock and heartbreak.

Seventeen-year-old Janiah Gant died at the scene, and her nineteen-year-old sister Leilani Wigfall was critically injured. Leilani is currently fighting to recover and faces a long, difficult road ahead. She will need extensive medical care, including rehabilitation, multiple surgeries, and dental reconstruction after losing all of her teeth in the accident. As you can imagine, the emotional and financial burden on our family is overwhelming. We are trying to focus on grieving for Janiah and supporting Leilani through her recovery.

Janiah was a kind and loving person who meant so much to everyone who knew her, especially her elderly Great Aunt Betty, who affectionately nicknamed her "Smiley" because she was so shy and her aunt loved to make her smile. Leilani is strong, but she has a long fight ahead, and she shouldn't have to face it alone.
