To all that know James:
A few weeks ago, which was two days after he proposed to his long time partner Christina, James suffered a seizure for the first time in his life. After several MRI's and CAT scans it became apparent that James had a tumor on the left side of his brain. The tumor was successfully removed two weeks ago but was also revealed to be an astrocytoma. He is scheduled for chemo and radiation in the coming weeks.
For all that know of his angelic nature, he would truly give the shirt off his back during a snow storm to any person in need. I can't think of anyone that has given so much to others and never asked for anything in return. When his mother was sick, James was right by her side taking care of anything and everything. James' father moved in with him and Christina in his last years and they took great care of him. Unfortunately they had to spend James' 35th birthday next to his fathers coffin this past march.
There was a time many years ago I was stuck on an island with no car and in dire need to get back to NY. James arrived via ferry on Sunday morning (after working construction the 6 days prior) to grab me and my belongings. We hopped back on the ferry, he unloaded me and all my stuff that same night only go back to work the following morning. He would not accept a penny from me because...that's just James.
I can literally write for days about the good deeds he has done for family, friends and strangers but if you know him then I am just preaching to the choir. James is a classic caregiver and will not allow himself to take off work which is going to be necessary to heal. I mention all of this to paint the picture of the tough times and loss he has recently endured. No family should have to go through this on their own and that's where we come in to help lighten the load.
The money we raise will go right to James to help with the financial burdens that come along with this diagnosis. Taking time off is not an option for him at this time and I am hoping that we can all kick in to help give him piece of mind and rest.
Please share and spread the word! Its our chance to finally give back to someone that has given us so much!
