UPDATE 5/23/25:
Our family has chosen to go with the path of cremation as it is better suited to the needs of our family at this time. We were able to locate a service in Maryland that has been so pleasant to us while we work through this difficult time. We are still asking for donations & if you are unable to donate, please share. Thank you for your time & love to us while we are grieving. ️
Hello,
My name is Roxey Besaw and I’m hoping to raise funds for the funeral/burial of my grandfather who passed away on 5/14/25.
He and my grandmother, in November 2024, relocated to WV from TN after living there together for the last 20 years. They needed to be closer to family so they could better manage their needs, health, and medical needs. In the 7 months that he has been here, he’s spent at least a week in the hospital each month. The medical bills are extensive and they were barely surviving on a fixed income.
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, he was having difficulty breathing and asked my grandma to call 911. They arrived and began life-saving measures on the way to the hospital. Upon arrival, he needed to be intubated. We were informed then that there was a possibility he wouldn’t be able to breathe on his own after taking it out. He was on a ventilator for nearly 5 days while going into renal failure. As a family, we collectively decided it was best to take him off and see if he was strong enough to continue on BiPAP. He was surrounded by family that loved him dearly, did the best they could with the circumstances at hand, and followed his medical wishes the best we could.
James was a man full of love for his family, pets, and strangers. He spent his days watching his favorite movies and shows, completing his word searches with fresh coffee. He enjoyed the time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There’s a joke we had about being God’s Favorite. It goes to show that he is because He needed him first.
If you’re unable to financially assist, prayers for our family during this time as well as just sharing would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
