Support for Jamerson ❤️

Hi, I'm Stacy Shields, the Special Education Director at Philadelphia Public Schools. The first time I met Jamerson, it was clear he was a remarkable young man—truly one of the best kids I've ever had the privilege to know. He graduated from Philadelphia High School last year and then started on an exciting journey with Project Search, a program we run in collaboration with MDRS and Neshoba General Hospital. From the start, Jamerson not only joined the program but thrived, and everyone at Neshoba General Hospital fell in love with him. His exceptional work ethic, especially during his last rotation in maintenance, caught everyone's attention, so much so that Josh Burton, the Project Search teacher, suggested we bring Jamerson on board in our school district's maintenance department. His work ethic and spirit have been nothing short of inspirational since joining us.

My heart sank when I learned that last night, while peacefully sleeping, Jamerson was the victim of a horrific act, shot multiple times. After initially being rushed to Neshoba General, he was transferred to UMMC in Jackson. He had surgery today to remove some of the bullets and will have more surgeries in the coming days. His parents face their own challenges with a lack of reliable transportation. The cost of long hospital stays, travel expenses, meals away from home, and the ongoing support Jamerson will need for his recovery can quickly become overwhelming. This is a family that has given the world a young man of incredible character and resilience, and now, in their time of need, we have a chance to give back. I am reaching out to the community and beyond to rally support for Jamerson and his family during this incredibly difficult time.
