With broken hearts, we share the tragic loss of Ja’juan Thigpen.
Ja’juan was the youngest of four children — a loving son, brother, fiancé, and most importantly, a devoted father. He leaves behind his beloved son Jaiyce (6), was preparing to become a proud stepfather to Jaharie (6), and was joyfully expecting a new baby, Niala, with his fiancée Naiyelle.
Ja’juan loved his children deeply. Becoming a father again brought him excitement, purpose, and hope for the future. His family was his world.
On March 29, 2026, Ja’juan’s life was tragically taken when he was gunned down by four assailants who fled the scene. His pregnant fiancée heard the gunshots, ran to him, and held him in her arms until he took his last breath — a moment no family should ever have to endure.
Too often, young men of color are stereotyped and labeled unfairly. But Ja’juan was not a statistic. He was a man who loved, who dreamed, and who was working to build a life for his family. Like so many, he carried the weight of economic and social hardships, yet still chose love, fatherhood, and growth.
We are asking for support to help this family through an unimaginable loss. Funds raised will go toward:• Funeral and memorial expenses• Immediate support for his children and fiancée• Care for his unborn daughter, Niala• Ongoing needs to help stabilize the family during this transition
No amount can replace Ja’juan, but your support can help carry his children and family forward.
If you are unable to donate, please share this fundraiser and keep this family lifted in your prayers.
Let us honor Ja’juan’s life by standing with the ones he loved most.
With love and gratitude,The Family of Ja’juan Thigpen
