My daughter Jaidyn has struggled with depression for a couple of years now, and recently, she experienced a devastating loss when her boyfriend died by suicide. This has been an incredibly difficult time for both of us, and as her father, I’ve done everything I can to help her through the obstacles that have come her way. Despite our best efforts, Jaidyn’s pain became overwhelming, and she was recently admitted to a mental health facility after self-harming.
As a single dad, I’ve always tried to bring her up right and healthy, and I’m not the type of person who usually asks for help. I’ve worked hard for everything we have, and I never want to be a burden on anyone. But this situation is not typical, and I want to make sure Jaidyn gets the help she needs while keeping our heads above water. The costs of her treatment, her bills like car and health insurance, and the need to find a place to stay near her facility—four hours from home—are more than I can manage alone. I also need to make sure her car is safe for her to use again once she’s out.
Our family has done everything we could to help Jaidyn heal, but this last challenge has been especially tough. I love my kid more than anything, and I’m willing to set aside my pride to ask for support. Any help you can give would mean the world to us as we work toward Jaidyn’s recovery and a brighter future.
