Support for Jack After His Fall
Donation protected
Linda Bard is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of long-time friend, Jack Armstrong (a gifted spiritual guide and author of “Lessons from the Source.”)
What happened to Jack on Wednesday – January 15, 2025, as told by his partner, Joan.
“Jack was running late for a lunch date with three of his former Pasadena neighbors - friends for decades. Being the empath that he is, he wanted to find out if the recent fires in L.A. had impacted them or their families.
Jack doesn’t like to be late or keep people waiting. So, after trying to finish just one more thing in his office, he quickly put on shoes and a jacket and hurried out the front door.
There are 19 concrete steps leading down from our second-floor apartment. I told him to have fun and saw him holding the rail as he started down the stairs. Shortly after I went into my office, I heard Jack yelling out to me, and through my window I saw him on the ground.
Jack was on his back, with his head on the ground and his lower body and legs up on the bottom step. He was bleeding profusely from the back of his head. (Photo above).
I ran downstairs, just as our neighbor Kyle ran out of his apartment. Jack kept saying that he was okay and that he was conscious. Kyle called 911 and got some towels to hold on Jack’s head wound. I called Jack’s son, Andy to let him know that his dad had just taken a bad fall and the paramedics were on the way.
The fire truck and ambulance arrived quickly. The EMT’s got Jack stabilized on a stretcher, and said they were taking him to OHSU. But moments later, they called and said they were being diverted to Legacy Emanuel instead.
With Providence nurses on strike, all the local hospitals and trauma centers were stretched to their limits.
The Emanuel ER was packed. After a couple of hours, he had an MRI and a brain scan. A neurosurgeon stopped by for a few moments to say although the scan showed a few small brain bleeds, there didn’t appear to be any brain damage. But he did see two broken vertebrae that might require surgery.
It wasn’t until morning that we finally knew his brain looked okay, and that he would not need surgery on his spine. But we also found out, Jack had two fractured ribs.
After 5 days, he was released on Monday, January 20th and is currently receiving on-going rehab at a skilled nursing facility.”

Back in July 2022, during his long recovery from heart surgery and multiple strokes, Jack was in 3 hospitals. For 55 days.
This time it was 1 hospital. For 5 days. And a split scalp, two fractured ribs, and two broken vertebrae. Thankfully, no concussion!
Your support of his GoFundMe in 2022 truly helped, ease monthly financial pressures. In the two years since, Jack was in the process of reviving his FrontEnd Messages business to create & record telephone messaging for local businesses, organizations, and schools.
Now everything has been put “on hold” once again. (No pun intended).
He is back to living from one Social Security check to the next – an amount that cannot adequately cover rent, food, and monthly bills, requiring Jack to take money from rapidly depleting retirement funds.
But that hasn’t depleted his spirit.
As Jack expressed, “I’ve often said that life is full of surprises, and this certainly has been a big one. But I’m looking forward to a full recovery and to experiencing all the blessings that lie ahead.”
That's quintessential Jack. He has lived a life of service and love. And now it’s our chance to create an opportunity for him to receive from all of us.
By covering six months of expenses, we can provide a bridge of support to a dear friend who has gone over and above to support and inspire so many of us as he rests and heals during a very stressful and pain-filled time with this new health challenge.
I know many of you are friends or colleagues of Jack’s and want to see him back on his feet - happy, healthy, thriving and continuing to do his great healing work in the world.
And that’s why I’m asking for you to be a part of Jack’s healing by donating to this new GoFundMe campaign.
Every little bit helps! Please contribute what feels good for you, and please share this link with your communities and anyone you know who has been touched by Jack and his work
.
Thank you so much for your generous heart and for supporting Jack in whatever way you can!
With gratitude,
Linda Bard
P.S. If you would prefer not to tip GoFundMe and have all the funds go directly to Jack, you can set the tip amount to "0." All donations to this fund go directly to Jack as beneficiary for his living expenses.
