Support for Jabari & his family

Hi, my name is Claudette Whitted, and I'm raising money in memory of my colleague and friend Jabari Jerkins, who sadly left us on Wednesday, February 21, at the young age of 42 years old after a three-year battle with cancer. He had been admitted to UNC Hospitals after his cancer returned and was recently transferred to hospice care. I am raising money to help his family, including his wife Akehia of 16 years who has been a stay-at-home mother with their two children, Alana (11) and Alexa (8). Funds raised will help his family pay for any costs Jabari incurred while receiving treatment for his cancer, such as his medical bills, and will also help with the cost of his funeral expenses. Those of you who knew Jabari saw firsthand the incredible person he was: a dedicated, humorous, and caring employee of SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals, having worked there for over 15 years. During that time he helped and assisted so many people while they were undergoing medical treatment, and this is a way for us to thank him for his service to others. Jabari was also an employee of State Employees Credit Union (SECU) and before that role he worked for 12 years at UNC Lineberger Cancer Center. As one of our Family House team members stated, Jabari was also a #1 Carolina fan as a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill.
