This fundraiser is on behalf of my brother Ivan Aguilera, who lost his life in a hit and run while riding his skateboard at midnight on June 4. His body wasn’t found until June 5 around 2:30pm, having been left on the side of the road. Our family wasn’t notified until Saturday around 1:30am. Family and friends tried to reach Ivan on Friday but received no response. I arrived at his home Saturday morning, just after coming into town Friday night, and found he wasn’t home. My father and other brother told me they had been contacted by a detective, so we reached out and learned Ivan’s body was found with his skateboard and phone, and he was identified by his fingerprints.
Ivan was born June 20, 1997, and was only 28 years old. He was someone you could talk to, count on for advice, and enjoy spending time with. Ivan brought joy to those around him, and his main goal was to settle down and have a family of his own. He was the second youngest in our family, leaving behind a 16-year-old sister, a 34-year-old brother, and a 36-year-old brother. He had just become an uncle to Jayr Aguilera who was born on new years of 2026, he was so excited to finally being an uncle and couldn’t wait for him to get older to be able to take him out, he had recently posted on Tuesday about Jayr and how excited he was. Ivan and his siblings have faced a tough life with only our father in the picture, but we always tried to stay united and cherished time with family and friends.
All donations will cover Ivan’s funeral expenses, and any remaining funds will be given to our father, Carlos Aguilera Sr., so he can take time off work and grieve the loss of his son. Thank you to everyone who lit a candle for Ivan on June 6. His funeral will be held on June 13. The incident happened on Montecito Pointe Dr & N Oso Blanca Rd along the side of the freeway. If anyone has information, please reach out to Ivan’s loved ones. We appreciate everyone who has shared memories and supported us during this difficult time.
