Support for Island Pacifica Animal Sanctuary

Since it began in 2018,  Island Pacifica Animal Sanctuary  has provided loving care on a shoestring budget for a growing community! 

The farm is located on 53 acres of agricultural land  on the west coast of British Columbia (on unceded territory of the K'omoks First Nation and shared territory of the Kwakwaka'wakw and Coast Salish peoples).

 Founder Cheryl Henkelman had already been rescuing and protecting animals for over 40 years when she decided to establish and expand her efforts on Denman Island.  Now a dream come true,  the sanctuary is currently home to over 50 residents including  goats,  cows,  pigs,  hens, roosters,  ducks,  turkeys, horses, 3 dogs and 1 cat! All of the animals now living out their natural lives on the  farm have their own unique stories, but each one has become an ambassador for their kind.

The problem is that unwanted, neglected and or abused farmed animals usually have nowhere else to go.  There are  always individuals waiting to be housed, and unfortunately it has been necessary to turn many away.  Cheryl and her small team need help in order to continue the dedicated work of saving the lives of those who through no fault of their own are  so unfairly valued less than others.

Such tasks as re-building the hay barn, pig pen and duck run are high on the priority list, but keeping up with the current costs of food, housing and vet bills for the current residents is already difficult enough without ongoing community support.

The sanctuary is working on acquiring official non-profit status but at this time tax receipts cannot be offered. A receipt and regular updates regarding how donations are being spent is available upon request, however. Cash donation are always welcome too.
